And the best news of all... This handsome boy is getting adopted on Tuesday!!!! I get to baby sit him one more night.. take him to the vet for a booster shot and then he gets to go home with his new family from Joplin. I'm so happy for Mr. Kipper!!!

I watched a documentary the other day and the people in it were from England. They kept saying the word "Magnificent." And of course, in that british accent it sounded.. well, magnificent. It's been running through my brain all week. I think it's a lovely word.

I just realized nearly 30% of what I consider to be a wonderful week revolves around food that I'm excited enough about to photograph. ha! 

What's In My (Scissor) Bag

I thought it would be fun to share with you all that I'm carrying in my new bag. I've remembered why I love big bags in the past two days, you can carry a ton of stuff! Along with carrying a ton of stuff comes a lot of countless minutes searching for items like keys, chapstick, phone etc, so I've busted out some of my older, smaller coin purses to help organize. 

We'll see how long this "organization" lasts...

1. TESOL Course Homework. I bought this binder for .69 tonight to keep me organized. Do you think I'll have problems finding it?

Christiano said he'll draw something on it for me because I don't like how boring it is :) I'll be sure to show you later.

(Side Note: I'm one of those people who just attract biters, and this summer an extreme case. If you're like me, stay tuned. Soon, I'll be posting some of my favorite natural products and remedies that work for me. The one shown is not natural and I try not to use it that much, but it's good for desperate times. Hopefully I can help you a little bit, because trust me, I know these bites are a real difficulty)

Good Thoughts

This morning Christiano and I decided to grab lunch at Cooks Kettle right across the street from where I live. It's a culinary school for people who have previously been addicts and are clean now but need a place to start, get an education and learn a trade. They have to follow strict rules to be allowed to stay in the program, but the end result is seven certifications that are recognized by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. They serve breakfast and a lunch buffet... anyways this is not a post about the Kettle, although very good. 

While I was waiting to get my food in line I our friend Gill popped up in line too. He sat down to lunch with us and we got to talking religion and life in general. Gill always says something that keeps me thinking hours later, but today he said something that really struck me. He said "Really, what it's all about is realizing the moment that you are in right now. The place you are right now in your life and what's around you." And while I've heard and thought about this before, sometimes a reminder is just what I need.  

So as I sat there listening to him talk I noticed the sun outside, the life on C-st driving by. Christiano to my right. A full plate of food in front of me. I had a beautifully colored sundress on and I'm living in good health. I was sitting there with Gill, who I admire, with my homework printed out and sitting on the table, reminding me of the new adventure I'm preparing for. 

Life is so beautiful.

While it is so easy to hold onto the things that are wrong in this world and people who have done me wrong, I have to be thankful for all that is right. And, I have to be thankful for the people who remind me of the that. 

So whether you feel like responding to this post in the comment box or not, I hope that reading this helps you to take a look at the life you live and see the good surrounding you. I hope you see the good inside of you.  

I am 22 years old, I just graduated from college and I'm on a mission to see what the other side of the world looks like. I have a loving family, friends and boyfriend. I laugh everyday and I have more than I need. I see beautiful things everyday and I feel connected to the Earth around me.

 Words do not give enough credit to how thankful I am to be right where I am, right now.

Hi Stranger

This just made my day...

I love soap and I love buttons. I'm starting to really like Mondays. Oops I guess "technically" (please say with finger quotes) it's Tuesday, but I haven't woken up for Tuesday yet.. am I making any sense? 

So, I know I kinda fell off the face of the blogging planet... but did anyone notice? For those of you kind souls who might have, well, you are just too sweet. 

I haven't really been gone though, more like taking a step back to realize what I'm doing here, what is possible, bloggers I admire, and what I want this blog to be. I'm so excited to be back. I missed this place. I think I might get my groove thing going on here :)

My Unfaithfulness

So... I've been a little unfaithful to my blog lately... but it's not by choice! I've been so busy. I know we're all busy... but I'm creeping on overwhelmed. If I had the funds, I'd hire an assistant. 

But...

I just so happen to have had an awesome last 48 hours of productivity so I decided to reward myself with a little blog time. I like blogging. I like sharing things that make me happy... and even if I'm not getting that much of a response, I'm getting some and it makes it worth it. 

I've been absent.. but it's been exciting.

Taught my new friend Aja how to serge and use a machine. I think she's going to get a machine! Yay for teaching people how to sew. We started off with some euro shams and she's a natural! 

Celebrating my friend Kaitlyn's Birthday at Cartoons in a sweet, blue VIP room. I never even knew the place was so big!

I deep cleaned the house because my parents came to visit me and I ended up stealing this corner rack from the bathroom to make a sweet reading nook in my room. So cozy! If only I had time to read all my books.... most are not even mine. They're the libraries.. they're way overdue! opps.

Where I spend most of my time, making a mess in the studio. See that calendar hanging on the wall? I received that free from Conde Nast in the mail the other day. What a sweet surprise in return for all the magazines I subscribe to. I like it!

My machine looking all creepy.. but she's not. She's actually very sweet. This was taken from me laying on the couch taking a break.

Having fun with a new camera app.. you like? I fall in love with my phone all over again on a regular basis. 

I miss these girls dearly. I think I might have already posted this on here... but I liked the filter effect and.. well yea, I miss them. 

But.. thankfully I have some lovely ladies here in Springfield that keep me sane when I'm not at home. 

I realized after I looked at this picture for a while I spelled her name wrong.. opps.. she still loves me anyways.

Currently, I'm super obsessed with Florence Welch and Florence and the Machine. Specifically Drumming Song and Cosmic Love. On Repeat. I think she's simply amazing.. and it doesn't hurt that she wears the most beautiful clothing. Truly an artist. 

Teach Abroad update:

My background check came in the mail. I didn't open it for like a week, not because I was nervous of the results or anything, just because how awful would it be to have waited this long for it, open it, and then find out it needs to be in the original sealed envelope. But tonight my dad called me and told me just to open it... so I did. 

No record of arrests for this girl!

 I couldn't remember of any anyways so this just confirms that. 

So now I just need to get my butt in gear, fill the application out, and get on the laundry list of things I need to gather for it. I need an assistant I tell you. 

I've got to get some sleep...I hear birds chirping and it's daylight savings time...and not the good one.. uhhhh. At least that means more sunlight in the studio from here on!

On Getting Distracted...

I found my favorite soy milk ... which forced me to buy brownies. 

So now I'm baking them and licking the spatula.

Wow, it's seriously difficult it was to take photographs of things in the oven, especially at night, but I found out I have a panaorma setting on this thing. 

I never knew why people who had a panorama app went so ape shucks, but now I clearly do.

Any who, I'm finally recovered from staying up all night making stuff  a few nights ago and well, I just can't do that like I used to. I mean it really kicked my butt. I feel old.

Well I was going to post this last night. and those brownies have long been done and indulged. Today I think I'll work on some designs before I have to retreat to the place of labor.

Big hair never hurt anyone

As I'm waiting for my coffee to brew, I thought I'd just say a little somethin' somethin'.

Today I worked, and then jet set off to take a little test MO State likes to call an Assessment Exam. 

You gotta take it to graduate and it reflects how far you've come since you entered. 

About this morning I started to wonder if this test was going to tell me I've actually lost brain power since my arrival... 

Then I sat down in the class room and realized my shirt was on backwards. Thats right... fashion girl can't even realize when her neckline is too high.. and that's because it's supposed to be in the back. Then I was thankful I put on a clean shirt, otherwise there'd be a chance I'd have food stains in the middle of my back... not that I'm that messy of an eater, but... I considered to do one of the magical put your left arm through the right side and flip really quick maneuvers, but I decided against since I'd never met any of those people before. 

at least it wasn't inside out

I decided to just put my jacket back on. It was chilly in there anyways.. and I like to be warm, cozy and ready for a nap when I take tests that require me to read an over worded paragraph with words I never use and then analyze it. Speaking of run on sentences.... ha take that exit exam!

So, since we all know about my profound writing skills, you can only imagine that I had a blast taking this test. Oh, it included Math too.

Now why can't it just ask me about stitch and seam classifications and why the shirt of the girl sitting next to me doesn't fit her?

I didn't really look at anyone like this... actually there was a guy next to me. This is all hypothetical.

Anyways, my coffee is brewed to where it can brew no more. Time for me to knock out four garments before 2:00 tomorrow. I love last minute. 

Oh yea, and the main reason for this post, is to let you know.. I'm back to big hair.
